Conejo Valley Fly Fishers |

Several salty CVFF members went to Santa Rosa Island via the Channel Islands Aviation flight: Mike Bennett, Bob Kieling, Andy Purdy, Bill Becher, Gary Bulla, Bill Ulrich, along with a guest of Gary's. The flight, skillfully piloted by experienced bush pilot Mary was uneventful. We saw some dolphins doing their thing, and got a good look at Santa Cruz Island. The 20 minute flight touched down on a dirt "strip" on SRI. (More of a rough spot on the bluff overlooking the water). We walked a few hundred yards down to the beach and rigged up. Note the beach is at "Becher's Bay". No kidding. Gary had picked a day when the minus high tide was at about 11am. This was the magic hour, most of the barred surf perch were caught during this window. Everyone caught fish, with Andy landing a dozen. A great time was had by all, this may become a regular expedition. (All photos by Bob Kieling).
